Religion is helpful for a lot of people, like when alternate side parking is suspended because it's Shemini Atzereth.
We don't just project our subconscious feelings onto other people; sometimes we even project onto inanimate objects. If you find yourself getting irritated by things like: elevators, the street lights, your pants, ad infinitum, perhaps that's a good indicator it's time for self-reflection. Perhaps you're angry or upset with something much deeper than the object or person.
Disappointment is inevitable. Allow yourself time to feel sad and disappointed when things don't work out the way you planned. While allowing yourself to feel sad, also remember the sadness and disappointment are temporary. Things don't always work out the way you want, and that's okay. Disappointment is part of what it is to live, to be human, but the journey continues.
Life is too short to spend too much time complaining about what you don't have. At a certain point, you must act.
Second guess your second guess.
It'll take work, but you can totally do it!
Sometimes you gotta check out before you can check in.
(...By that I mean: sometimes you have to give into what you're avoiding (feelings-fear, anger, sadness) before you can actually feel better, to feel like a complete, connected person.)
Sometimes, especially for an empathetic person, it can be easy to disconnect from yourself. To reconnect with yourself, journal. And journal only for yourself - when you mention a new person, just write their name; you already know who they are.
Don't lose your self over any other person. Or animal.
