Hoodoo Blues & Book Updates 🐅

Happy Hump Day!

Howdy friends!

As much as I’ve tried to avoid my natural inclinations towards communication, alas I must heed the call of Mercury!

As such, I will be hosting a radio show tonight (5.8.24) on Marfa Public Radio called Hoodoo Blues. I’ve curated a special playlist to conjure some of the greatest in blues who do some conjuring themselves. We’ll meet Robert Johnson at the Cross Roads and talk about Goofer Dust and how to use it. Plus, Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner and more tonight at 8pm CST on Marfa Public Radio, which can also be streamed live on their website: www.MarfaPublicRadio.com

Additionally!

My book, The Metaphysics of Good Vibrations is set to be launched on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 7pm CST on Amazon.com. If you’re into ebooks, pre-order is already available for Kindle.

Once the book is launched, I will be doing a launch party and offering VIP packages of signed books for sale, so stay tuned for that.

In the meantime, I’ve included a teaser from the book below.

Love so much and thank you!

“Cacti & Crosses”

Cacti and crosses
at a crossroads in West Texas.
Prada, with your degradation;
even as you prefer it.
To bite the dust
as tumbleweed,
which was once
a Christmas tree
and an ornament at a wedding.

Wealth, the bells do ring. A Catholic woman clings to her cross,
and I see no wrong in that. Abuela, Grandmother. Nanny.

The women turn the tides in the desert
in the highlands and the low.
A cross at a train stop, a truck stop, a township.
How those drunk high school kids
did not take life seriously.

Until we meet again, if ever.
I remember the boy at the laundromat.
A single mother buys a new set of teeth.

Meth. Meth. Where are our healers?
Sanctum at a crossroads
under a full moon
or on no particular day.

The artificial flowers blow by
like dandelion seeds wished by a graveyard.
