The Phra Pidtaa Magical Amulet
The Phra Pidtaa Magical Amulet
The Phra Pidtaa by Luang Phor Khun
made in 2014
This is called a Phra Pidtaa, which means the Buddha covers his eyes, a classic example of Thai Buddhist magic. This is from one of the great generation of Thai monks who passed away a few years back. His powers were legendary through his mastery of meditation, and he passed as an acknowledged Arahant.
This Phra Pidtaa aids the bearer by bringing Metta from those around you, so they treat you kindly, and the two Takrut guide the magic within the piece. It is made from holy powders that also bring good fortune, and crushed Bai Laan, which are the ancient palm leaf scriptures used for reading Buddhist kata. This substance, and the robe and hair of Luang Phor also protect the bearer and keep away evil spirits, as well as those who would do us harm. I love the spider on the back, which in Thai beliefs brings money.
Note:
I have been working closely with Peter Jenx, author of Thai Occult and Thai Occult 2. Peter lives in Thailand and works closely with ajarns (teachers/magicians). He is a reputable source when it comes to Thai Magic.
