This early depiction of Christ overlays the sign of the “Chi Rho.” The Chi Rho in pre-Christian times was used as a marker or indicator of something valuable. The Emperor Constantine, a converted Christian, had a vision of the Chi Rho and was instructed that under this sign, he would conquer. And he did.

This powerful Christian and Greek imagery is wrapped within the hidden evil eye. The layers of blue and white are cleverly hand-painted in the style of the evil eye, in addition to the two evil eyes at the center, flanking both Christ and the Chi Rho.
